Pinoys Around the World

For many years now, I've been contemplating on my dreams to be able to find a job abroad, particularly in Canada. Although almost all of my relatives (father-side) are in the U.S., I think I'm gonna invest my hopes and time finding out how I could get to Canada instead. Well my wife's brother and his family, plus their other relatives, are permanent residents of Vancouver and Ontario. So I was thinking that if I could also bring my family there, that will be the happiest day of my life because I knew that making them happy for being reunited will make me happy the most.

And so, for quite a while now, I've been searching the internet for jobs anywhere in Canada. I've also searched YouTube for tips on immigration policies. Some bad news though, now applicants had to prove their English proficiency through accredited Canadian institutions. But I'm quite confident I'll pass that IELTS exam, it's just that the cost of it is quite challenging. Plus, I have no recruitment agency connections nor have consulted an immigration office so I really have to start from scratch.

YouTube has been great, nevertheless. I discovered some realistic and quite motivational videos of Filipinos who were able to make it abroad, not just in Canada where I dream to be, but rather, those who travelled around the world! One cool YouTube Channel would be that of a Filipino seaman named Rinell Banda. Visit his page and you'll know what I mean.

Here's a sample video:

In addition to Rinell's success, I found another vlogger named Niki Yarte who, in 2011, was able to take 2-week vacation in Vancouver, Canada. He then documented his entire adventure through his YouTube Channel. He did mention though, that he is an American citizen and he lived for two years in Vancouver when he was a bit younger. But anyways, his entire two-week journey is quite interesting to see. That's why I think I've spent almost three straight hours last night just to complete all his 15-day adventure. I slept at around four in the morning.

Here's just Day 1 of Niki's Canada vacation:

Through it all, I've learned that my dream when I was a child was not just a dream, but a goal that I need to fulfill soon. Yes, my dad could have accepted the immigration offer from the U.S. Bases way back in 1991 or 1992 but he opted to just get the separation pay in order for him to send my older sister to college. Yeah, thinking about it now, it was not a smart decision.

But you know, as long as there's life, there's hope. And so for the next few months or years, I am hoping that God will light my way and provide me the answer that I've been waiting for.

For now, let me tell you how proud I am for those people who were able to make it, and their hardships truly was worth the try.

Mabuhay Kayo!

Listen Live: 96.3 Easy Rock

DWRK, broadcasting as 96.3 Easy Rock, is a music FM radio station of Easy Rock Network owned by Cebu Broadcasting Company (a wholly owned subsidiary of Manila Broadcasting Company) in the Philippines. The station is currently broadcasting from Star City Complex, Pasay City and its transmitter is atop the One San Miguel Avenue in Pasig City. The main format of the station is lite rock music.

Before MBC purchased and was granted the rights to 96.3 MHz, the frequency operated as RK 96 Real Radio, later to be rebranded as 96.3 WRocK in 1988. It was originally owned by the ACWS - United Broadcasting Network, Inc (the stations also operates UltraVision 25 (now known as NET 25) now owned by the Eagle Broadcasting Corporation) with the studios and transmitter based at FEMS Tower 1 in OsmeƱa Highway in Manila. It operated until 2008 when the callsign and frequency was bought by the MBC in October 2008.[1]
MBC tried its best to maintain DWRK's upscale and niche-market on-air identity and programming format as 96.3 WRocK from October 2008 to May 17, 2009, unlike many other stations which reformatted after being sold. On December 2008, its studios moved to the Star City Complex, Pasay next to its new sister stations. On May 18, 2009, DWRK rebranded as 96.3 Easy Rock, ending 20 years of broadcasting under the WRocK brand,[2] to reflect the change.
This was MBC's first venture into class A,B & C market.
